BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - After completing her senior season with a 27-10 overall record and leading the Lady Toppers to their best finish in school history, pitcher Ryan Rogge has been named to the 2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I First Team All-Region Central Team. The honor is the first All-Region honor for Rogge in her career.
“Ryan is a very tough competitor,” head coach Tyra Perry said. “She is very deserving of this honor and I’m extremely proud of the way she played this season.”
Rogge was named to the 2009 All-Sun Belt Conference second team after finishing the season with a 1.66 ERA in over 244 innings of work. Giving up only 58 earned runs in 40 appearances, she struck out a team high 152 batters while only walking 28. In the SBC Tournament, she pitched all 34.1 innings for the Lady Toppers and allowed just 30 hits and ten earned runs. After the SBC Tournament, she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
She completed the season ranked 16th in the country in shutouts, picking up ten this season to break the WKU single season school record. In addition, she was ranked 19th in victories and in the top 50 in ERA. Rogge was honored as the league’s Pitcher of the Week twice this season and four times in her career. With 58 career wins, Rogge now becomes eligible to be named an All-American.
