WKU fifth-year senior offensive lineman Greg Ryan signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday and will continue his career in the National Football League.
Ryan, from Murray, Kent., will report to the Ravens’ mini-camp on May 8. “It is hard to put into words how good this feels and it really hasn’t even sunk in yet,” Ryan said. “Everybody dreams of playing in the NFL. Not too many people got phone calls today, and I was fortunate enough to be one who did. It is up to me to take advantage of this opportunity.”
“I am thrilled for Greg, and it is tremendous that he will be able to continue his career at the highest level,” Head Coach David Elson said. “He has truly given our program everything we have asked for the last five years, and everyone associated with Hilltopper football is better because of it. His work ethic made him a better player and set an example for others of what it takes to be successful. His annual dedication throughout each off-season and in the weight room enabled him to improve every year, and his leadership raised the bar for what we will expect in the future from those who follow in his footsteps. We certainly wish him all the best and will be following him and rooting for him every step of the way.”
Ryan, a four-year letterman and three-year starter, started all 12 games on the WKU offensive line in 2008, seeing time at multiple positions in an effort to help younger players develop. He received an overall grade of over 90% seven times including a 92% grade at
