Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University sophomore defensive back Mark Santoro has been named to the Academic All-District IV Second Team, presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and ESPN The Magazine.
 A native of Greer, S.C., Santoro is majoring in management. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
 Santoro has started all eight games in the defensive secondary in 2009, and currently ranks second on the team with 70 total tackles. His 8.8 tackles per game rank eighth in the Sun Belt Conference, and is tied for 53rd in the nation. Santoro has finished with eight or more tackles in seven games this season, including reaching double figures in three straight games as he posted a career-high 14 stops at Navy, and recorded 12 tackles against both Florida International and Louisiana-Lafayette.
 The Hilltoppers return home this weekend, hosting Sun Belt leader Troy at 4 p.m. (CST) on Saturday in the 2009 Homecoming Game at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
