BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The WKU volleyball team heads to Alabama this weekend for the final two matches of the 2009 regular season. WKU will face Troy on Friday night and then head to Mobile to take on South Alabama on Saturday. WKU is currently 22-8 this season and 11-4 in the Sun Belt Conference.
NOTING THE LADY TOPPERS
• The WKU volleyball team concludes the 2009 regular season this weekend with match-ups against Troy and South Alabama. On
Firday night, the Lady Toppers will take on Troy at 7 p.m. and then will conclude the season with a trip to Mobile to take on South
Alabama on Saturday at 3 p.m.
• WKU is 11-0 all-time against Troy and have only lost one set to the Trojans. Earlier this seson, WKU swept Troy in Bowling
Green. Against South Alabama, the Lady Toppers are 31-9 all-time. WKU hasn’t lost a set to the Jaguars in the last 13 meetings
and defeated the team 3-0 in Bowling Green in October.
• Following the weekend trip to Alabama, the Lady Toppers will return home to host the 2009 Sun Belt Conference Championships.
The winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Last season, the Lady Toppers won the tournament by sweeping
all three teams they faced along the way.
• WKU freshman Sarah Rogers was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 31. During the meetings
with ULM, Louisiana-Lafayette and New Orleans she paced WKU defensively recording double-digit kills in all three of the Lady
Toppers' matches. She finished the weekend leading the Lady Toppers in digs with 45, all in just 11 sets. The libero also posted four
aces during the weekend and two assists. Rogers kicked off the week against ULM on Thursday night by recording ten digs and one
ace. Then on Saturday against New Orleans, she tallied 18 digs in a five set thriller and also posted two assists and two aces. She
followed up that performance on Sunday against ULL by racking up another 17 digs in just three sets and adding another ace to her
weekly total.

• In the match, the Lady Toppers posted a .230 hitting percentage after recording 59 kills, 54 assists, four aces, 48 digs and seven
blocks. The Lady Toppers also recorded 13 service errors during the four sets. The Lady Toppers were led offensively by freshman
Jordyn Skinner who finished the night with a team-high 16 kills and a .324 hitting percentage. Sophomore Lauren Stuckel finished
the night with 44 assists to lead the Lady Toppers while freshman Sarah Rogers posted a match-high 15 digs during the night.
Junior Emily Teegarden led the team in blocks with two. Florida International posted 56 kills and a .280 hitting percentage while
also recording 51 assists, one ace, 53 digs and 13 blocks.
FAU Recap
• To end the match, the Lady Toppers posted a .226 hitting percentage after recording 56 kills, 54 assists, ten aces, 52 digs and 21
blocks. WKU was led by Teegarden and sophomore Tiffany Elmore on offense. Teegarden finished the day with a match-high 15
kills and a .385 hitting percentage while Elmore posted ten kills and a match-high .471 hitting percentage. The team was led by
sophomore Lauren Stuckel in assists with 42 and Skinner in digs with 14. In blocks, Bowen recorded four solo blocks and three block
assists to lead the team. During senior day, the Lady Toppers recognized four seniors. Seniors Bowen, Lindsey Gould, Siljendahl
and Aquila Orr all played their final match at E.A. Diddle Arena.
