BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - This weekend, the WKU volleyball team will continue conference play by hosting Denver and North Texas. On Friday, Denver and WKU will start the weekend off with a 7 p.m. meeting in E.A. Diddle Arena. Then on Saturday, WKU and North Texas will hit the court for a 3 p.m. meeting. WKU is currently 14-6 this season and 3-2 in the Sun Belt Conference. Live stats will be available for both matches at www.wkusports.com.
NOTING THE LADY TOPPERS
• The Lady Toppers will continue their home season this weekend by taking on Denver on Friday night and North Texas on Saturday afternoon. On Friday, WKU and Denver will hit the court for a 7 p.m. contest and then on Saturday, WKU and North Texas will play at 3 p.m.. WKU is 12-5 all-time against Denver. Last season, WKU defeated Denver in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in three sets but fell to the Pioneers in Denver in five sets on October 17. WKU also holds an advantage over North Texas and is currently 9-1 against the Mean Green. WKU’s only loss to North Texas came last season when the Mean Green swept WKU in Denton, Texas.
• Denver is currently 9-11 this season and 4-2 in the Sun Belt Conference. In the conference, Denver has collected wins over North Texas, ULM, Louisiana-Lafayette and Florida Atlantic and has fallen to New Orleans and FIU. The Mean Green has an overall record of 7-13 this season and is currently 3-3 in the SBC. North Texas has lost to FIU, New Orleans and Denver this season and has picked up wins over ULM, Louisiana-Lafayette and FAU.
• Following the meetings with Denver and North Texas, WKU will take on Middle Tennessee on Tuesday, October 20. Earlier this season, the Lady Toppers fell to Middle Tennessee in five sets to the Blue Raiders in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
UALR Recap
• On October 9, the WKU volleyball team swept the UALR Trojans (25-19, 25-15, 25-17) in Bowling Green. In the match, WKU was led by sophomore Tiffany Elmore who finished the night with a .692 hitting percentage after recording nine kills and zero errors. She also led the team in blocks with four. Senior Abbie Siljendahl also had an outstanding night tallying ten kills and zero errors for a .556 hitting percentage. Sophomore Lauren Stuckel led the team in assists with 27 and freshman Sarah Rogers and senior Lindsey Gould both finished with a team-high nine kills.
• As a team, WKU finished with a .340 hitting percentage after recording 46 kills, 39 assists, two aces, 18 blocks and just 11 attack errors. The Lady Toppers held the Trojans to just 29 kills and .094 hitting percentage after committing 20 errors.
Arkansas State Recap
• The Lady Toppers followed up their victory over UALR by defeating Arkansas State in four sets (25-20, 25-19, 24-16, 25-22). WKU was led by Elmore who finished the night with 13 kills and a .632 hitting percentage. Sophomore Lauren Stuckel led the team in assists with 52 and freshman Sarah Rogers posted 21 digs to lead the team. Senior Brittany Bowen led the team in blocks with five. As a team, WKU finished with 67 kills and a .333 hitting percentage, 63 assists, one ace, 54 digs and 14 blocks.
