Bowling Green, Ky. — The Western Kentucky University women’s tennis team was defeated for the second time this season by UT-Chattanooga 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at Total Fitness Connection.
Marija Djuran collected the only win for the Lady Toppers. She beat Beata Knizat in three-sets 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 to remain undefeated in singles action this season.
Two other matches went the distance and fell short for WKU. Carrie True was beaten by Grace Robbinette 6-0, 6-7, 6-4 at No. 4 and Leanne Caplinger was defeated 3-6, 6-0, 10-8 at the number six spot by Arianna Sanjines.
UTC claimed the doubles point winning all three matches.
The Lady Toppers will be on the court again Friday evening when instate rival Murray State travels to Bowing Green for a 6 p.m. (CST) start.
