The Western Kentucky University football team will take the field at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium for the last time in 2008 this Saturday when they host Sun Belt Conference rival Middle Tennessee at noon (CST). The contest will be televised live on CSS. WKU defeated the Blue Raiders 20-17 last season in Murfreesboro in the first meeting between the two teams since MTSU visited Bowling Green during the 1991 season. Prior to Saturday's kickoff, WKU will honor the members of the 2008 Hilltopper football senior class.
u Middle Tennessee will be making its first trip to Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium for the first time since a 23-21 victory over WKU on Oct. 5, 1991. WKU has won six of the last nine games in the series played in Bowling Green.
u The Hilltoppers have won seven of eight contests on senior day this decade.
u WKU is 4-5 all-time in games played on Nov. 15. The Toppers were victorious in their last game played on this date a 37-13 win at Youngstown State in the 2003 regular-season finale.
u Middle Tennessee is the last FBS team the Hilltoppers defeated with their victory in Murfreesboro last season. WKU is looking to snap a five game losing streak to Sun Belt Conference teams.
u Nine members of the 2008 Hilltoppers originally reside from the state of Tennessee. Two of those are members of the senior class that are expected to start in Saturday’s contest Jared Johnson (Franklin) and David Wolke (Mt. Juliet).
