The Hilltoppers had two chances to end the match in overtime as Glen Marshall hit a header that forced WSU’s Tebias Mason to make a save. In the 99th minute Andy Masteller hit a shot that went wide right.
The match-winning goal was sent from the left side of the field from Jonah Longino and Tony Labudovski deflected the ball into the net.
“Our team is disappointed in the results, but the coaching staff is very encouraged with the team effort and performance,” head coach David Holmes said. “It is a tough loss, but we will be ready to go come Sunday.”
Marshall, Masteller, and Ben Backstrom each collected two shots on the match and Pat Rickman played all 105 minutes in the goal area, saving four shots.
Labudovski collected four shots off of the bench and Mason made four saves for the Raiders.
WKU concludes the tournament on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. (CDT) when they face host Michigan State at Old College Field.
