Tryout Information

2013-14 Tryout Information: (See below for all pdf files for tryouts)

Tryout Info:

Tryouts will be held on May 3-4, 2013 - Tryouts are 100% closed to the public!
Main floor of Diddle Arena
Friday, May 3rd - 6:00pm-9:00pm - Everyone must wear a red sports bra and black shorts
Saturday, May 4th - 8:00am-12:00 noon - Everyone must wear a black sports bra and back pants
Cuts will be made as needed Friday night.  
Partipants are required to stay the full length of tryouts.
Call backs will be made at the coach's discretion.
Results will be announced at the end of tryouts on Saturday.
Participants will learn a routine with jazz, pom and hip hop.  Each section will include approx. 6 eight counts and will be stylized accodingly.
Partipants will also learn a short routine for the WKU Fight Song.  The routine will be 4 eight counts in length and will strictly be pom.
Partipants are expected to be "performance ready" for both days of tryouts.  That includes hving full make up on, hair fixed, and being fully stretched and warmed up.  Hair MUST be worn half up.
No jewelry is to be worn with the exception of single stud earrings if they improve your overall performance appearance.
Paricipants will be asked a series of interview question regarding but not limited to knowledge of the dance team, the head coach, WKU Athletics and WKU.
For video auditions please include a short bio about yourself, the technique listed above (leaps, turns, etc.), and a routine including 30 seconds of jazz, 30 seconds of pom, and 30 seconds of hip hop. Mail a DVD with the tryout application to

Laura Hedges, head coach, graduated from WKU in 2012 with a degree in Interior Design and Event Planning. She is certified in Pilates and Barre and has taught fitness classes since 2010. Laura has danced for over 10 years and has placed in the top 10 twice at NDA Collegiate Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL, with the WKU dance team. She danced with the Topperettes for 4 years and is excited to continue working with the program.
