A three-year letterwinner on the Hill, Martinez converted 7-of-8 extra-point attempts and added a 29-yard field goal in the final minute as the Columbus Destroyers — the sixth seed in the National Conference — defeated No. 2 seed Georgia 66-56 Saturday.
Martinez enters ArenaBowl XXI as the leading kicker in the Arena Football League playoffs with 30 points — he has made 24-of-25 points-after-touchdown while kicking a pair of field goals. He and the Destroyers will face American Conference champion San Jose — a 61-49 winner over Chicago last weekend — in New Orleans on Sunday, July 29 at 2 p.m. (CDT). The contest will be broadcast live on ABC.
Former WKU All-American Bobby Sippio concluded his second season with Chicago by posting a 15-catch performance in the American Conference championship game, as he finished with 194 yards and five touchdowns.
