Sigei paced the Hilltoppers over the 5,000-meter course, placing eighth in 15:11.51. Western finished third in the team competition with 92 points, behind champion Belmont (23 points) and runner-up Vanderbilt (54).
Sigei earned similar honors after last year’s Belmont Opener, where he finished fourth overall and second among collegians.
The Hilltoppers will return to action Sept. 16, when they host the Old Timers Classic at Bowling Green’s Kereiakes Park.
