Hedges, a 6-foot, 230-pound resident of Murray, Ky., matched a career-high with eight stops — six of the solo variety — against sixth-ranked Illinois State Saturday, including his first unassisted tackle behind the line of scrimmage this season. The senior also forced a fumble that led to WKU’s initial points of the contest, and he recorded his first pass break up of the year.
It was the second time this fall that Hedges has posted eight stops, as he also accomplished the feat against instate rival Eastern Kentucky on Sept. 9, while it marked the third occasion during his time on the Hill that he has been credited with that many tackles.
WKU (2-3, 1-1 Gateway) is next in action Saturday, when it visits Missouri State (1-5, 0-2 GFC) at 3 p.m. (CDT) in a contest that will air live as part of the league’s television package.
