Western Kentucky moved to 3-6-3 on the year (0-1-2 in MVC action) while Drake is 3-6-4 on the season (0-0-2 in MVC play).
“It was a typical Missouri Valley Conference game, a battle to the finish,” head coach David Holmes said. “I was pleased with our seniors and their outstanding performances. We would have preferred a win here at our home field, but I’m pleased with the way the team is progressing, as we’re healthy and getting better every game.”
Both teams took 15 shots each, with Drake adding five on goal and WKU tallying four shots on goal. WKU had several chances in overtime with Chris Davies nailing a shot that goalkeeper Phillip Breuer saved in the 97th minute. Alex Sheikh added two shots in the second overtime, both of them missing wide.
Pat Rickman finished with another strong performance, saving five shots to earn his second shutout on the year. Will Fancher and Alex Holmes collected four shots each for Western Kentucky.
The Hilltoppers will be back in action on Tuesday (Oct. 10) at 3 p.m. (CDT) to face DePaul in Chicago, Ill.
