The victory also capped off a 4-0 week for the Lady Toppers as they moved to 22-7 on the year and 11-1 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Warhawks fell to 5-22 and 2-9 in the league.
Despite hitting .393 in game one, the Lady Toppers found themselves playing from behind a majority of the contest. In fact, the Warhawks were able to open up an 21-15 lead late in the game after a WKU attack error. The Lady Toppers were able to slowly chip away at the deficit, however, grabbing a 28-27 lead after a block by Argabright. After a Darci Mika kill tied things up at 28-28, Julia Noe put down a kill to get the Lady Toppers to game point. However, ULM traded points to stay alive with a Nicole Schaferkotter kill tying things up at 30-30. WKU was able to regroup and get kills from Argabright and Alli Christian on the next two points to escape game on with a 32-30 victory.
After trading points to open game two, the Lady Toppers used a 7-0 run midway through the game to pull out to a 15-8 advantage. That would prove to be the difference as ULM could get no closer than five points the rest of the way. WKU finally opened up its first double-figure lead of the day when an Argabright kill made it 28-18, but the Warhawks scored four straight to cut the lead down to six. However, another Argabright kill and a ULM attack error gave WKU the win and a two-game lead in the match.
Ashley Deignan set the tone early in game three for WKU as she posted service aces on the first two points. It would be the first nine aces for the Lady Toppers in the game as the offense clicked from the very beginning of the game. WKU would commit just one attack error as a team, hitting .632 in game three — the best single-game hitting percentage by the Lady Toppers this season. Again the Lady Toppers stretched their lead into double figures when a 6-1 run late in the game pushed the advantage out to 23-11. WKU would close by scoring seven of the final 10 points to finish off the match with a 30-14 game-three win.
Jenna Gideon added nine kills for the Lady Topper, while Kelly Hofmeyer led the defense with a match-high seven digs. Ilima Sam Fong and Megan Osborne each had seven kills to pace the Warhawks.
The Lady Toppers will hit the road for the next four matches, opening the roadswing on Friday (Oct. 27) in Miami, Fla., against Florida International.
