The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Hixson, Tenn., resident graded out at 93 percent with a 93 percent factor grade at I-A Auburn Saturday, helping the Hilltoppers gain 342 yards while averaging 6.1 yards per play against the Tigers. He was credited with seven pancake blocks, and did not allow a sack or a quarterback pressure as WKU became the first team to reach the end zone against Auburn in 13 quarters.
Losey was also the GFC Lineman of the Week following the Toppers’ season-opening 63-3 victory over West Virginia Tech on Sept. 1.
Two other Hilltoppers have won the award on multiple occasions since Western joined the league prior to the 2001 season. Buster Ashley was a two-time Lineman-of-the-Week honoree in 2002 and last fall, while Chris Price was also recognized twice during the Toppers’ national championship campaign in ’02. Both players earned All-America honors in their time on the Hill.
Losey and WKU — the third-ranked team in this week’s polls — open Gateway Conference action this weekend with a 1 p.m. (CDT) kickoff Saturday at Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. It’s the second of three straight road contests for the Hilltoppers.
