The Hilltoppers finish the season at 8-8-1 (2-5 in MVC action) while Drake improved to 8-8-2 and 4-2-1 in conference play.
After a goal by Drake in the 18th minute, WKU tied the match in the 27th minute when Will Fancher and Danny Walcott sent a pass to Steven Medlock for a header. The goal was Medlock’s third on the season while both Fancher and Walcott collected their second assist on the year.
The match-winning goal was scored in the 33rd minute when Jake Henneman took a pass from Blake Siberz to put Drake up 2-1. Heading into halftime Drake added another goal in the 38th minute from Besmir Bega.
Drake started the second half quickly scoring three goals in a five minute span to push the lead to 6-1. In the 59th minute Alex Bollinger added a goal and Gustavo Morais finished out the scoring in the 73rd minute with his shot in the box.
WKU was outshot 15-14 with Medlock adding three shots and Daniel Payne and Alex Sheikh recording two shots each. Drake was led by Siberz who tallied three assists on the night while Bega and Jess Richey had two assists apiece.
This concludes the season for the 2005 WKU soccer team as they will graduate six seniors from the squad.
