Voting was conducted among the league’s eight head coaches, sports information directors and selected members of the media.
Campbell, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound freshman from Indianapolis, Ind., was credited with an 87 percent overall grade and a production grade of 85 percent after transferring to the Hill from Bowling Green State. He collected 101 knockdown blocks in 10 contests while giving up three sacks on WKU’s 235 pass attempts.
A 6-foot-6, 310-pound redshirt freshman, McConnell graded out at 88 percent overall with an 85 percent production grade. The Carthage, Tenn., native recorded 60 pancake blocks as he allowed four sacks.
Their efforts helped the Toppers lead the conference and rank 15th in the country in rushing offense while also standing in the top 30 nationally in scoring and total offense. WKU averaged 405.7 yards per game of total offense, the fifth-best figure in school history.
Reese finished fourth on the team with 63 total tackles after transferring from Bowling Green State, including five stops for loss with 1.5 sacks. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound sophomore from Indianapolis led the Hilltoppers in tackles in three contests, posting seven games with five or more stops.
