The Lady Toppers earned a berth in the tournament by winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament title with a 3-2 victory over Middle Tennessee last Saturday in Murfreesboro, Tenn. WKU, which boasts a 31-2 record and is ranked third in the latest South Region poll, will find out its opponent and location for the first and second round of the NCAA Tournament. The opening rounds take place on campus sites, and get underway next weekend (Dec. 1-4).
Western Kentucky is making its second trip to the NCAA Tournament. In 2002, the Lady Toppers also earned the Sun Belt’s automatic bid and faced national powerhouse Hawai’i in the opening round in Honolulu.
