2005 NCAA Southeast Regional Men's Results
Greenville, N.C. — The Western Kentucky University men's and women's cross country teams completed the 2005 campaign Saturday at the NCAA Southeast Regional, hosted by East Carolina at Lake Kristi.
Taking the women's team title was Duke with 33 points, while the N.C. State women were the runners-up with 78. On the men's side, William and Mary took the team title with 68 points, while Virginia was second with 91 points.
The Lady Toppers finished 16th in the team standings, and were paced by Natalie Leeper, who completed the 6,000-meter course in 22:10.8. Crossing the line second for the Western women was Nicole Jaggers in 82nd (22:28.9), followed by Amanda Adams in 88th (22:39.8), Heather Coulter in 97th (22:47.5), and Ashley Moore in 119th (23:08.4).
The Hilltoppers were 21st in the team standings, and were led by Kevin Dick, who finished the 10,000-meter course in 94 points in a time of 32:29.5. Daniel Kipsiro was the second Hilltopper to cross the line, finishing 113th in a time of 32:44.1, followed by Cosmas Sigei in 135th (33:10.4), Travis Keown in 152nd (33:34.5), and Justin Groves in 171st (34:15.2).
Sprinters, jumpers, and throwers will join the distance runners Dec. 10, when WKU begins the 2005-06 indoor track and field season in Murfreesboro, Tenn., at the Middle Tennessee Christmas Invitational.
