A sophomore majoring in computer science, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound free safety from Bradenton, Fla., leads the Hilltoppers with 74 total tackles, while he is one of nine players to have an interception this season. Rumph has led WKU in tackles on three occasions, and has three contests with 10 or more total stops.
As a freshman, Rumph was named to the Gateway Football Conference’s Academic Honor Roll. On the field, he was honorable mention all-conference and a member of the league’s All-Newcomer Team after leading all Topper defensive backs with 76 tackles while tying for seventh in the Gateway after intercepting four passes.
Rumph has helped WKU to a 6-3 mark overall, which includes a 4-2 record in the conference. The 12th-ranked Hilltoppers finish league action with a noon (CST) kickoff at No. 19 Youngstown State Saturday.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-District honors, individuals must be a sophomore starter or key reserve — freshmen and first-year transfers cannot be nominated — with a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade-point average. District IV includes Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
