Fulkerson will have four years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2005-06 season.
The Lexington, Ky., native is coming off a state doubles championship in 2004 with her partner — and younger sister — Kelsey Fulkerson. The Paul Dunbar High School team captain also won the region doubles title in 2002 and 2004, made the state doubles semifinals in 2002, and was the doubles runner-up in the state in 2003. Fulkerson is currently ranked number one in Girls 18s Singles in Kentucky, and also held rankings in Girls 16s Singles and Girls 16s Doubles in the state. A Wendy’s High School Heisman nominee, she has also earned the Kentucky Tennis Association (KTA) Most Improved Girl Award, KTA Girl’s Scholastic Achievement, and the Andy Schrecker Sportsmanship Award.
“Signing the top-ranked girl’s tennis player in the state and the defending high school state doubles champion speaks volumes for our program,” True said. “Erin will make an immediate impact as soon as she arrives on the Hill.”
Fulkerson is True’s first recruit of the year. The Lady Toppers will only lose one senior from this season’s roster, Dana Underdonk.
