Q: I have been reading the Sun Belt Conference website for a few months and it seems there is a lot of interest in Western going to I-A football. What are your thoughts on the subject and what would Western need to do if it was decided to make that move? I think Western would be at the top of the league now. -- Submitted by Robert Cooley, Shelbyville, Ky.
Coach Elson: Robert, Thanks for your question as well as interest in our program. We found out this year that I-AA is great football and having a legitimate chance to win the National Championship each year is something that we value and appreciate about I-AA football. We need to dominate at this level over an extended period of time (EX. Marshall) before we look to make the move to I-A. The financing to go I-A would be the biggest challenge. I believe this community has the potential to support a I-A program and look forward to future discussions. Right now we are very happy where we are and working every day to stay on top of I-AA Football. Go Toppers!
Q: What do you think about Tommy Crockett? He is my cousin and he is very talented. -- Submitted by Emily Goodman, Tazewell, Tenn.
Coach Elson: Tommy is a big part of our program and we are looking forward to him getting back on the field. He has made great progress with the rehabilitation of his knee and, as I said, we look for him to be a big part of our offense this fall.
