Doherty joined head coach Darrin Horn’s staff in May after serving for four years under former Hilltopper head coach Ralph Willard at Holy Cross. He also has coached as an assistant at Assumption and Worcester State.
“This is an opportunity for me to be a head coach close to home. I couldn’t pass that up,” Doherty said. “I enjoyed my time in Bowling Green, but felt this was the best move for me and my family.”
Horn will begin an immediate search for his replacement.
