Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky men's soccer coach David Holmes has received commitments from three more athletes to join his Hilltopper squad this fall.
Justin Augsback will come to the Hill after a successful prep career at Campbell County High School in Alexandria, Ky. During his career with the Camels, Augsback was an all-region selection and all-state honorable mention his junior and senior years, while also earning team MVP honors this past season. He totaled 15 goals as a sophomore before moving to defensive position his last two years. Despite the switch, he still netted ten goals as a central defender his senior season. Outside of his prep career, Augsback has also played club soccer for the Cincinnati United Premier and the Dayton Galaxies.
"Justin's versatility and work ethic make him a welcome addition to the 2002 Hilltopper soccer team," said Holmes. "He is comfortable playing any position in the back or in midfield. He is a dedicated player and I have no doubt that Justin will come to preseason training fit and ready to go!."
Also joining the Hilltoppers in the fall will be Jake Isenhour, a four-year starter at East Jessamine High School. Isenhour finished his high school career ranked second in EJHS history with 44 career goals, including 17 during his senior year. He is also the school record holder in assists with 25 in his four-year career. He was a second-team all-state selection following his junior year, and was named conference player of the year in 2001.
"I'm very pleased that Jake has decided to join us at Western." Holmes said. "He is a hard-working midfielder who has experienced great success at the club and high school level. He is a Governor's Scholar and a 4.0 student. I look forward to him becoming a part of our team of highly motivated student-athletes."
Brandon Moore will make his way to the Hill after a year of junior college soccer at Meridian Community College in Meridian, Miss. Prior to his stint at MCC, Moore tallied 14 goals and six assists during his senior year at Biloxi High School. He earned all-state honors his senior year, and was also an all-division special teams football player during his final year with the Indians. Moore also played club soccer for the Jackson Futbol Club in 2000 and 2001, leading his club to a state championship.
"Brandon comes to the Hill from a JC powerhouse in Meridian Community College," Holmes said. "He is another versatile player with experience as a goalkeeper and midfielder."
In all, seven new players have committed to joining the Hilltoppers in 2002. WKU finished the 2001 campaign 7-10, advancing to the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament for the fourth consecutive season.
