Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University's Sara Noe (Sr., Louisville, Ky.) was selected to the Verizon University Division Academic All-District IV volleyball second team on Thursday.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve, at least a sophomore both academically and athletically and have a cumulative 3.2 grade-point average. Voting was conducted among members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) within the district - District IV is comprised of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
Noe, WKU's starting setter and lone senior on the 2002 squad, became Western's all-time leader in assists earlier this season, and enters tonight's regular-season finale at North Texas with 4,924 assists in her three-plus seasons on the Hill. She currently ranks eighth in the nation with 13.63 assists per game. Noe has twice been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week this season, and is a strong candidate for the league's Player-of-the-Year award which will be handed out next week prior to the conference tournament.
The Lady Toppers enter tonight's finale against UNT 29-4 and a perfect 13-0 in the Sun Belt. WKU has already wrapped up its third consecutive SBC East Division championship and will be the top seed in the conference tournament which gets underway next Thursday (Nov. 21) in Miami, Fla.
