Lexington, Ky. - Natalie Furry (Sr., Normal, Ill.) and Tara Thomas (Sr., Louisville, Ky.) recorded 17 and 16 kills, respectively, as the Western Kentucky Volleyball team defeated Kentucky 3-1 Tuesday night. It was the second straight win for WKU over Kentucky, and the third in its last four tries.
The Lady Toppers (3-1) won a tight first game 31-29 before the Wildcats (2-2) evened the match with a 30-27 win in game two. However, Western responded in with a match-high .297 hitting percentage in the third game to win 30-15. Kentucky fought back in the fourth game, but the Lady Toppers held on for a 30-28 win to take the match.
Furry shared game-high kills honors with UK's Kristen Batt She also recording 12 digs for her first double-double of the season. Amanda Cecil (Fr., Louisville, Ky.) led the Lady Toppers with 14 digs and Sara Noe (Jr., Louisville, Ky.) recorded a match-high 57 assists.
WKU is off until Friday when it meets Southern Illinois in the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. The Lady Toppers will also face Missouri and IUPUI in the tournament.
