Bowling Green, Ky. - Two members of the Western Kentucky women's volleyball team are ranked among the national leaders in the most recent statistics released by the NCAA.
Outside hitter Tara Thomas (Sr., Louisville, Ky.) finds herself ranked 25th in the nation in digs. Her 3.89 digs-per-game average leads the Sun Belt Conference, and is on pace to rank among the best averages in school history. The Assumption High School graduate has posted 14 double-figure digs matches this season, including a season-best 24 against Austin Peay on Oct. 17.
Setter Sara Noe (Jr., Louisville, Ky.) also finds herself among the nation's best in assists. Noe leads the Sun Belt with an average of 12.66 assists-per-game, which ranks 29th in the country. Noe, a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, has eclipsed 50 assists five times this season, tallying a season-high 64 in an SBC win over North Texas on Sept. 28. She finished the 2000 season (her first as WKU's starting setter) ranked 10th in the nation with an average of 14.15 assists per game.
The Lady Toppers (16-5, 8-1 SBC) currently have a two-game lead over Florida International in the SBC East Division. They travel to Arkansas this weekend for two key conference matches against Arkansas-Little Rock at 7 p.m. (CDT) Friday, and Arkansas State at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
