BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Western Kentucky men's soccer team fell 3-0 to IUPUI in a preseason exhibition held Friday evening at Greenwood Crossing in Bowling Green.
The Hilltoppers were led in goal by redshirt freshman Daryl Sattler (Cordova, Tenn.) who recorded one save in the first half, and junior Ryan Lossie (Owensboro, Ky.) who played the second half.
IUPUI scored two goals in the first half, while scoring once early in the second half.
"We were outplayed tonight," head coach David Holmes said. "I credit IUPUI with a hard fought game, a game that we would have won last year. We have to move on and get ready for a tough tournament next weekend."
The Hilltoppers will face Fresno State at the Nike Goal Rush Classic in Fresno, Calif. on Friday, Sept. 1 at 9 p.m. (CDT). Western will then face nationally-ranked Stanford on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m. (CDT).
WKU's first home match of the year will be Sept. 8 against UC-Santa Barbara at the WKU Soccer Complex, located on Creason St. beside the WKU Softball Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. (CDT).
