Miami, Fla. - WKU's baseball team fell to 10-10, 3-1 in Sun Belt play, with a 7-6 loss to Florida International Friday night.
The loss also ended junior RHP Ryan Hutchison's SBC winning streak at nine games, one short of the WKU record held by Darren Kizziah.
Hutchison pitched 8.0 innings, giving up six runs on twelve hits. He struck out three and walked two in the outing.
Jerry Courtney pitched 7.1 innings for FIU (22-5, 1-3), giving up six runs on nine hits. Courtney struck out 10 Hilltoppers in the game.
Paul Zervas picked up the win for the Golden Panthers, going 2.2 innings and not allowing a hit.
FIU won the game in the bottom of the 10th, when Michael Quintana doubled off Hilltopper freshman RHP Matt Wilhite to lead off the inning and was later singled home by Matt Huntingford.
Junior RF Tim Cleland led the Hilltoppers at the plate, going 2-for-3 and scoring two runs. Cleland hit his 11th double of the season in the game.
