JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — WKU junior golfer Mary Joiner fired a 4-under 68 in the second round of North Florida's UNF Collegiate, rebounding from a tough start to finish the opening day tied for 12th individually.
Joiner's 68 is tied for the third-lowest single-round score in program history, a mark she also reached in the fall. She's just four strokes out of fifth with a 145 (77-68) total.
After a 5-over 77 to start Monday's action, Joiner tallied six birdies in the second round at the par-72, 5,926-yard Jacksonville Golf and Country Club. She's tied for third in the field with nine total birdies.
The Lady Toppers are tied for 11th as a team with a 595 (303-292) tally. Delaware leads the competition at 569.
Freshman Lizzie Loy tied her career low for 18 holes and set a new career low for 36 holes at 148 (75-73). She's tied for 30th through two rounds.
Junior Abigail Smee is tied for 52nd at 152 (77-75), while sophomore Megan Clarke is two shots behind her at 154 (74-80). Junior Bailey Tyree carded a two-round total of 158 (82-76).
Three players are tied for the individual lead with 6-under 138 marks.
The final round is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT Tuesday.
