SEASON TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU fans will get an early start on the Tyson Helton era in 2019 as the Hilltoppers' season opener vs. Central Arkansas has been moved from Saturday, August 31 to Thursday, August 29.
Â
An exact game time has not been set.
Â
It will be WKU's first Thursday night game since 2016 when the Hilltoppers also opened the season at home against Rice in quarterback Mike White's debut. WKU also opened the 2015 season with a pair of wins in consecutive Thursday night games at Vanderbilt and against Louisiana Tech.
Â
Hilltopper fans, and particularly the student body, have made the environment inside Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium electric on Thursday season openers. The 2016 opener vs. Rice was highest attended game by WKU students in the program's FBS history and the second highest overall attended game of the year behind only the sellout vs. Vanderbilt. The 2015 home opener vs. LA Tech was also the highest attended game by WKU students that season and a top-five attended game by WKU students in the program's FBS history.
