DALLAS – WKU Track and Field's Oliver Alexandre has earned his Conference USA Male Track Athlete of the Week accolade of the 2019 campaign the league office announced Tuesday. The Hilltopper senior posted a pair of podium finishes at the Kentucky-hosted Rod McCravy Memorial Invite over the weekend.
"Another solid performance by Oliver this past weekend," head coach Erik Jenkins shared. "He had a solid opener in the 400 and gave us a quality leg on the 4x400 relay."
Individually, Alexandre clocked a 47.30 in the 400-meter competition for the squad's fastest mark of the season not to mention an indoor personal-best. The performance earned Alexandre third-place overall – second among collegians – and first in his heat. His mark currently ranks fifth among all Conference USA times and in the top-50 nationally.
Alexandre turned around and ran the second leg of WKU's second-place 4x400-meter relay as the unit turned in Conference USA's top time since the 2013-14 campaign. The squad's time of 3:08.07 ranks 18th in the nation and third all-time in the Hilltopper record book.
Alexandre's second honor is the seventh Male Track Athlete of the Week nod collected by a Hilltopper during the indoor season since the squad joined Conference USA.
