Tops Head Back on Road with Thursday Trip to Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball continues a stretch of five games in 10 days with a road trip to Southern Miss at 7 p.m. CT Thursday in Hattiesburg, Miss. The game will stream on Stadium and air in Bowling Green on WKU-PBS.

WKU won its second straight game Monday night with a 68-59 home win over league-leading Marshall.

Southern Miss had a three-game winning streak halted Saturday with a 78-60 loss at Old Dominion. WKU is 8-1 all-time against the Golden Eagles, including 3-1 on the road. WKU head coach Rick Stansbury is 3-0 in his career against Southern Miss.

• WKU freshman center Charles Bassey has more blocks himself (46) this year than 73 Division I teams.
• As of Tuesday, Charles Bassey was tied for second in the nation among freshmen in total blocks (46), ranked fourth in field-goal percentage (63.1 percent) and second for total rebounds (178).
• As of Tuesday, Charles Bassey ranked in the top 50 nationally in double-doubles (24th), field-goal percentage (17th), blocks per game (19th), total blocks (12th), rebounds per game (35th), offensive rebounds per game (44th) and total rebounds (27th).
• After scoring 13-plus points just five times overall in his first 33 college games, sophomore guard Josh Anderson has scored at least 13 points in eight of the last nine games for WKU.

WKU assisted on its first 16 made baskets and used a season-high 12 3-pointers to outrun Southern Miss 82-66 at E.A. Diddle Arena. Dwight Coleby had a career-high 20 points and went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line.
