WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In WKU Track and Field's first meet of the new year, the Red and White collected three first-place finishes along with 28 top-10 marks on the day at the Gene Edmonds Open. WKU saw a pair of individuals in Oliver Alexandre (600 meter) and Myesha Nott (triple jump) bring home first place finishes in addition to the men's 4x400-meter relay unit. Alexandre's 600-meter crown broke the WKU school record in the event.

"Purdue provided a great opportunity for us to compete against some very good programs," head coach Erik Jenkins shared. "We had some individuals show signs of being able to compete at a high level as they develop. We will evaluate the meet and continue to work towards being successful in all aspects."

The Hilltoppers' top relay group of Austin Hayes, Kymari Gates, David Saruni and Martin Owusu-Antwi notched a reading of 3:14.52, grabbing the title by just three hundredths of a second over Purdue's unit. WKU saw its second and third relay units both finish in the top eight as well.

WKU's women's 4x400-meter relay group of Juannae Lewis, Aairiona Hayden-Ransom, Audrey Griffin and Brianna Eskridge turned in a top-eight finish.

In the women's running events, WKU saw three runners post top-10 finishes including Hayden-Ransom (1:47.18), Griffin (1:47.74) and Lewis (1:55.02) for seventh through ninth place, respectively. Haley Webb picked up a 10th place finish in the 3,000-meter race with a reading of 11:11.33.

On the men's side, Alexandre earned a first-place finish in the 600-meter event with a time of 1:19.54. Fellow Hilltopper Ka'Ven Berry finished second with a 1:22.63 while David Saruni (1:25.48), Lincoln Warren (1:26.58) and Maor Seged (1:27.65) all placed in the top eight as well. WKU saw success in the 3,000-meter race on the men's side as well as Dedrick Troxell (8:59.03) and Emerson Wells (8:59.04) earned fifth- and sixth-place finishes while Matthew Wininger (9:09.48) and Clint Sherman (9:13.15) finished ninth and 10th, respectively.

In the 60-meter dash, WKU saw Gates (6.81) and Owusu-Antwi (6.88) both run finals qualifying marks, finishing sixth and eighth, respectively. Seged added another top-10 finish in the 60-meter hurdles where he placed third in the prelims with a reading of 8.48.

WKU's eighth remaining top-10 readings came in the women's field events. Nott earned the triple jump title with a 12.08-meter (39' 7.75") clear while Annastacia Forrester (11.71 meters) and Brianna Eskridge (11.29 meters) earned fourth and sixth place.

Eskridge went on to add a 10th-place showing in the long jump with a bound of 5.33 meters (18' 2.5") while earning seventh place in the high jump after clearing 1.61 meters (5' 3.25"). WKU saw freshman dual-sport athlete Katie Isenbarger earn third place in the high jump after clearing 1.66 meters (5' 5.25") while fellow Lady Topper Annastacia Forrester cleared the same height.

Getter Lemberg rounded out the top-10 finishes after posting a seventh place showing in the pole vault with a clear of 3.65 meters (11' 11.75").

WKU Track and Field is back in action next weekend at the Vanderbilt Invitational. The two-day outing will take place Jan. 18-19 in Music City.
