BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Following the 2018-19 season-opener back on Dec. 1, WKU Track and Field will kick off the new year with a trip to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Gene Edmonds Open on Saturday. The Purdue-hosted outing marks the first of four-straight weekends the Red and White will be in action.
The Gene Edmonds Open will kick off with field events at 9:30 a.m. CT, while running competition will begin at 11:15 a.m. from the Lambert Fieldhouse (directions). Results can be found here.
Collectively, 29 Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers are slated to compete at the one-day outing. Thirteen Lady Toppers will represent the Red and White while 16 Hilltoppers make the trip into Big Ten country.
In addition to WKU and Purdue, Alabama State, IUPUI, Louisville, Northern Illinois and Notre Dame will be competing at the Gene Edmonds Open.
Back in December, head coach Erik Jenkins and his staff saw the WKU track and field squads collect 17 top-10 finishes at the Vanderbilt Indoor Opener.
