IRVING, Texas — The hardware just keeps coming for Mary Joiner.
Â
After winning her second tournament in as many tries to start the season, the WKU junior was again named Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.
Â
This is the seventh C-USA weekly honor of Joiner's career and her second straight to open the 2018-19 season. Dating back to last season, Joiner has won five of the last nine Golfer of the Week awards.
Â
She's now tied for the second-most total weekly awards in C-USA women's golf history, and just two behind the record of nine set by East Carolina's Abby Bools.
Â
Joiner shared co-medalist honors at the Boston College Intercollegiate on Tuesday for her sixth career individual title – a WKU and C-USA record. After starting the final round six shots back, she pulled into a tie for the lead by the 12th hole. No playoff was used to determine an outright winner because of ongoing rain at the course.
Â
The Franklin, Ky., native finished with a 220 (72-78-70) total in adverse weather. Her 2-under 70 on the final day was tied for the best round of the entire tournament, and she also tied for the tournament lead in total birdies and paced the field in par-5 scoring.
Â
Joiner's efforts helped WKU win the team title by three strokes over host Boston College, giving the Lady Toppers at least one championship in each of the last five seasons.
Â
WKU is back in action at Kentucky's Betty Lou Evans Invitational on Oct. 5-7 in Lexington, Ky.
