BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With an entirely new look, WKU Tennis is ready to begin the 2018-19 season at the Greater Cincinnati Collegiate Invitational in Mason, Ohio, this weekend. Head coach Greg Davis will begin his tenure with the Lady Toppers at the Northern Kentucky-hosted outing that will feature several teams from Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.
Lady Toppers taking the court for the Red and White this weekend include Austrian-native, Lisa Friess, a transfer from Eastern Kentucky. At EKU, Friess notched an overall record of 15-10 with four of those wins coming from fall tournaments.
Next up, junior Alexis Herman hails from Fort Thomas, Ky., and will make her debut appearance with the Lady Toppers this weekend. Also new to the roster are sophomores Laura Bernardos and Millie Khoury. Spanish-native Bernardos earned three tournament wins last fall after playing for the Houston Cougars in the 2017-18.
Freshmen Zeniece Charles-Hall and Judit Gonzalez Agud will both play in their first collegiate tournament this weekend at the Greater Cincinnati Invite.
During the 2017-18 Lady Topper Tennis season, the squad posted a record of 9-8 and the second-best conference tournament finish in program history – advancing to the Tournament's Second Round. Senior Elpida Malamou left her mark on The Hill as the winningest Lady Topper in WKU Tennis history.
