Action from Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis will commence at 6 p.m. CT, Friday night for the Red and White against the host Billikens. SLU, still searching for its first victory of the season, returns four starters and 11 letterwinners from last season 13-15 squad. WKU owns a slim 4-3 lead in the all-time series against Saint Louis, with the most recent meeting occurring last season on The Hill. WKU has swept its last three meetings with the Billikens, while coming out victorious in each of the last four.
Â
First up on Saturday for the Red and White will be a loaded [RV] Marquette squad out of the BIG EAST Conference. The Golden Eagles were just nine points outside of the top 25 in the most recent AVCA Coaches Poll. Marquette is 2-1 on the young season with its loss at the hands of Baylor in Waco, Texas last weekend. The Milwaukee-based squad returns all six starters and its libero from last season's 22-10 unit, not to mention 12-of-14 letterwinners. The all-time series between Marquette and WKU stands even at 1-1 with the two meetings coming in 2004 and 2011.
Â
WKU Volleyball will close its final pre-conference weekend on the road with a tilt against Kansas State out of the Big 12. Saturday's meeting will be the first between the sides in program history. KSU went 10-19 a year ago but is off to a 2-0 start with two victories at Hawaii. The Wildcats return five starters and their libero from a year ago in addition to 11-of-15 letterwinners.
Â
Following this weekend's action in St. Louis, WKU returns home for nine-straight home matches spanning Sept. 8 through Sept. 23. The Lady Toppers will host two weekend tournaments and a midweek contest against Cincinnati before opening Conference USA action from E.A. Diddle Arena during that stretch.
