BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU golfer Billy Tom Sargent has been named to the Division I PING All-Region Midwest Team, as announced Saturday by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Sargent, a redshirt junior from Georgetown, Ky., was one of 25 players selected to receive the honor in the Midwest Region. Six regions were honored overall.
Sargent had a breakthrough season for WKU, becoming just the second Hilltopper ever selected to participate in a NCAA Regional as an individual, and the first since 2008.
He was also named to the All-Conference USA Second Team, making him the first Hilltopper to receive all-league honors since 2010.
Sargent was the team's top finisher at seven events in the 2017-18 campaign, recording nine top-20s, five top-10s, three top-fives and one victory at the Border Olympics – his third career individual win.
He also finished tied for 11th at the 2018 Conference USA Championship, the best conference tournament result by a Hilltopper since 2010.
