IRVING, Texas — For the third time in four seasons, WKU has placed multiple Lady Topper golfers on the All-Conference USA Teams.
Â
Sophomore Mary Joiner was named to the All-C-USA First Team on Friday, while senior Georgina Blackman received her program-record fourth all-conference selection when she was named to the Second Team.
Â
"I'm very proud to have two players selected to the all-conference team," WKU head coach Adam Gary said. "It's a great way to cap off a successful year, especially Georgina being selected all four years to set a school record. We will miss her greatly next year, but we're lucky to have a returning all-conference member with Mary."
Â
In Gary's four seasons at the helm, the Lady Toppers have had multiple All-C-USA selections three times.
Â
They're also the only C-USA school with a different first-team selection each of the last three years: Joiner this season, Blackman in 2017 and Ellinor Haag in 2016.
Â
Joiner, a Franklin, Ky., native, competed in all 11 events for the Lady Toppers this season and led the team with a stroke average of 73.9. This is her first all-conference selection.
Â
She finished the season with nine top-25 performances, five top-10s and four top-5s, including individual victories at the Spring Break Shootout and the EKU Colonel Classic. That gave her a program-record four career wins in just two college seasons.
Â
Joiner was named C-USA Golfer of the Week three times during a five-week span this spring. She was also named to the C-USA All-Academic Team.
Â
Blackman becomes the first Lady Topper to ever receive all-conference honors in each of her four seasons on The Hill. She and Haag were previously the only WKU women's golfers to even receive three all-league accolades.
Â
In addition to her second-team honor this season and her first-team selection last year, Blackman was also named to the All-C-USA Third Team as a sophomore and freshman.
Â
In her final season, Blackman was WKU's top finisher in 7 of 10 events. She finished the year with a stroke average of 74.3.
Â
The Essex, England, native recorded eight top-20 results, as well as six top-10s and five top-5s. She finished fourth in the 2018 C-USA Championship, the best result by a Lady Topper in 20 years, and she broke her own program record with a three-round total of 219 in the conference tournament. Blackman was named to the C-USA All-Tournament Team.
