BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Lady Topper Golf heads into its second straight week in Florida with a tournament of its own, hosting the Spring Break Shootout for the second year in a row in Dade City, Fla.
Â
The Lady Toppers will be one 14 teams competing Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 6,321-yard Lake Jovita Golf Club.
Â
Play will begin with the first two rounds Monday with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start. The final round is slated to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT Tuesday.
Â
This is the second straight year that WKU has hosted the event in Florida, although the Lady Toppers will co-host with Florida Gulf Coast this season instead of Southern Miss.
Â
Georgia Southern returns as the defending team champion. WKU finished fifth a year ago, led by Georgina Blackman's fifth-place individual showing.
Â
The Lady Toppers will take all nine golfers on the roster to compete for the first time this season. Blackman, sophomores Mary Joiner and Bailey Tyree, senior Katie Story and freshman Megan Clarke will represent the program in team play.
Â
Senior Elizabeth Cason, redshirt junior Hannah Turner, sophomore Abigail Smee and freshman Caroline Cavin will compete as individuals.
Â
WKU is coming off a fifth-place effort last week at North Florida's UNF Collegiate. Joiner tied for the second-best 54-hole score in program history with a 4-under 212, placing third individually and being named Conference USA Co-Women's Golfer of the Week.
