Football Tuesday Practice Report - November 6 - Western Kentucky University Athletics

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Football concluded practice Tuesday evening as the Hilltoppers look to battle the Florida Atlantic Owls this Saturday in Boca Raton, Fla. The game will be streamed on Stadium including Facebook Live at 4 p.m. CT.

Historically, WKU trails the all-time series against FAU, 6-3. But over the last three years, the Hilltoppers have won two of the three games played, and have outscored the Owls 115-64. The last time these teams matched up in FAU Stadium, WKU won 52-3 over the Owls.

Later that season, the Hilltoppers were selected to play in the Boca Raton Bowl against the Memphis Tigers, which was played in the same stadium. In a high-scoring affair, WKU came out with the 51-31 victory against Memphis. The victory gave the Hilltoppers their third-ever bowl win.

WKU looks to continue its success playing in FAU Stadium this Saturday. An emerging weapon on offense is redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jahcour Pearson, who has a total of 10 catches for 134 yards over the past four games for the Hilltoppers.

"I always feel the need to step up, and I feel like all the receivers feel like that every week. We just have to go out there and make plays when our name is called," Pearson said.

For the season, WKU averages 243 yards passing per game, with five different receivers at 260 yards or more. The Owls' pass defense had allowed right around that average, at 247 yards per game.

"Moving Jahcour inside, we got to see some of his playmaking ability," head coach Mike Sanford said. "We have talented players and we're going to keep trying to put them in the positions to go make plays. I have all the confidence in the world in their abilities and they're going to make those plays."
