BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Lady Topper Golf head coach Adam Gary announced Thursday the signing of Alex Stevenson (Durham, England) to a national letter of intent in the 2018-19 signing class.
Â
"Alex follows a line of successful English players here at WKU," WKU head coach Adam Gary said. "She will bring valuable international tournament experience to the team. We are so excited to have her join us next year."
Â
Stevenson has captained the golf team at Durham Sixth Form Centre school.
Â
In recent months, she's competed in the English Girls Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship, the English Women's Amateur Championship and the Scottish Girls Open Championship.
Â
She previously won the Scottish Girls U16's Open and finished 13th in the English Girls U16 Open. She's the Beamish Golf Club champion and holds the course record with a 4-under 67, and she's been the Durham County Schools U16 Girls Champion five years running.
Â
Stevenson has also won the Durham County Ladies Championship and the Northern England U16 Girls Open.
Â
The Lady Toppers currently have two England natives on their roster in sophomore Megan Clarke and junior Abigail Smee.
Â
England-born Georgina Blackman, who graduated in 2018, was one of the most successful golfers in program history and won the England Women's Amateur in July.
