"We are really happy with this recruiting class," Collins said of his first signing class. "All three of these young ladies have the kind of character and work ethic both on the basketball court and in the classroom that will make them successful as Lady Toppers. We are looking forward to adding De'Myla, Torrion and Victoria to our roster next season. De'Myla and Torrion will bring some depth and speed to our point guard position, while Victoria add some strength and size to our post play."
TORRION STARKS // HARTWELL, GA. // HART COUNTY H.S.
A 5-8 guard, Torrion Starks joins the Lady Topper squad from Hartwell, Ga., where she played her prep ball at Hart County High School. Through her first three seasons, Starks reached the 1,500 point milestone and earned GACA First-Team All-State status in addition to three First-Team All-Region nods. Starks fills the statsheet, averaging 23.7 points per game along with 5.7 rebounds per game, 5.0 assists per game, 4.0 steals per game and 1.0 block per game. With an ability to affect the game at both ends of the court, Starks has earned both offensive and defensive MVP honors from her squad along with the team's Free Throw Award. Starks competed in the GACA All-Star game and enters her senior campaign as a favorite for the 2018-19 Georgia 8AAA Player of the Year candidate.
Collins on Starks – "Torrion has next-level speed and I was thrilled when she said she wanted to be a Lady Topper. She's the kind of player that we want on The Hill. She can push the tempo of the game offensively and defensively and get to the basket. Torrion has been the leading scorer and the team leader at Hart County High School with Coach Edwards - she is a game changer."
VICTORIA HUNTER // HOOVER, ALA. // SPAIN PARK H.S.
Victoria Hunter is a three-star (ESPN HoopGurlz Basketball Prospects) post player that stands at 6-4 and has the ability to make a major impact for the Lady Toppers. Hunter is a second-generation Hilltopper that will join the squad from Hoover, Ala. Playing her prep ball at Spain Park High School, Hunter has averaged a double double throughout her first three seasons including a 20-point, 12-rebound, 3-assist, 3-block average most recently. Off the court, Hunter is a constant on her school's honor roll.
Collins on Hunter – "Hilltopper Nation is going to love Tori. She is a smart, strong, hard-working, 6-4 post player who has not even begun to realize how great she's going to become. I've been watching Tori for a couple years and she reminds me of other post players I've coached that became impact players on both ends of the floor. Tori has as much personality as Big Red; perhaps she gets that from her father, who is a WKU alum. We are looking forward to seeing her in the red and white next year."
DE'MYLA BROWN // NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARK. // NORTH LITTLE ROCK H.S.
Joining the Lady Toppers from North Little Rock, Ark., De'Myla Brown is the second guard in WKU's signing class. Brown is a two-time state champion with North Little Rock High School and earned 7A State Tournament MVP status for her efforts. Following both championships, the 5-8 guard was selected to the 7A All-Tournament Team. During her junior campaign, Brown averaged 13.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game, affecting the game on both ends of the court.
Collins on Brown – "I am super excited to have De'Myla Brown coming next season. I've been recruiting De'Myla for a couple years and watched as she has continued to get better every season and every summer. She is a very smart young lady with a tremendous work ethic. A versatile guard, she can handle the ball, shoot the 3, and keep great defensive pressure on opponents. De'Myla has earned her success through determination and drive. She's played for a great high school team and coach, Coach Fimple at North Little Rock. Last year they won the Arkansas state championship and De'Myla was the tournament MVP. She is a competitor and a winner!"
